Understanding the Power of the Mind
It's a joy and a privilege for our energy to experience contact with all of you. You are all beautiful, giving, loving and good people, and therefore it is our pleasure and our privilege to serve you, as much as we can serve you, as much as we are allowed to by the tether, and the rope that is attached to our mission in the earth. For a great extent of your lives, you will be on your own, like ants scurrying to and fro, like ducklings wandering over hills and into water streams and puddles; but for some parts of your life you have a mother duck who comes and herds you together, and feeds you and comforts you, and this is like those times when spiritual guidance is present in the life. It's for many people present constantly, for many others it's present often. For some it's only present occasionally or rarely, but there is really no one on earth for whom spiritual guidance is not present at some point in their life. The role of spiritual guidance is to serve, not to teach, not to dictate, not to lecture (although we may seem to be lecturing right now!), and it is not, not, not, not to judge. Spiritual guidance will never, ever, ever, ever judge you or any other human being. And the reason for that is, that that is judging ourselves, and we have no need to judge ourselves. We know who we are, and we therefore know who you are and we will never, ever, ever judge. This is something that is always true for all spiritual guidance. So approach spiritual guidance in whatever form it may come to you, with an open heart and a happy heart, and with joy, as well as with the sorrow, and the tremors, and the burdens which you bring to spiritual guidance for relief. Bring them all, and bring them with joy. There is never, ever a need to fear. We are beginning tonight a very exciting adventure! The boat has left the dock, you are all on board for the moment, lifeboats will be available! [laughter] We also may be meeting other ships and passengers may be embarking and disembarking, before we have reached our destination. This is natural, this is expected, and this is a part of the divine plan. This is an area which we never judge. For we know that every human being comes here for a particular reason. We may say this class is about understanding the power of the mind, but everyone who is here has their own reason for being here, and it is not simply to hear us talk. Everyone, therefore, will find that their needs are met, at the proper time and in the proper way, and when the need is met the choice will always be yours, what you do then. We will never judge. It is wonderful that you are here, now, in this moment right here. What you will be and where you will be in two or three more moments is not our concern. It is of utmost and paramount importance to you, however, and that is why we honor you with such respect. We honor your processes, as they are called, and we honor your paths, each one of you with a path so brilliant and so important to yourself, your salvation, and to the world, and the world's salvation. No one needs to come to all four classes. No one needs to, but you're all welcome. Banquet table will be laid; you can decide. The message in our message is contained, tonight and in all these sessions, in every word we utter, and in every idea we will project. And the message that is here, to be consumed at this banquet is present in every modulation of the voice. So actually, for the astute listener, you have already heard all that there is to hear. For those who are reveling in the delight of allowing this to unfold more gradually, that will be there too. So have no fear. Some may only need to be here now, and may never need to return. You will have the whole point in your heart. Others may delight and want to return again and again. That's alright. This is the significance of Eon Talk. Eon Lesson, Eon Teaching. Eon Discourse. That in every phrase is contained the kernel of the whole. This class will not be about business, no. No one who will not be here in the future needs to worry what they are missing, this class is not about worry. No one needs to fear being here. This is not about fear. Indeed, this is not about many things, which are irrelevant to a conversation about a noble topic like "Understanding the Power of the Mind." Actually, this class is more about the way in which we are speaking to you now, than it is about what we are saying. Understanding the power of the mind is more about hearing the tone, and the tenor, of our words, and not so much about hearing the words themselves. Over the course of the evening, that message will become dear to each and every one of you here, at least for a moment, but for some of you it will be revealed quite clearly. You will be reminded of the true message of your inner knowledge of this topic, simply by the experience of receiving the love, and the peace, that is flowing through this group. And to drink of that love and peace we are privileged as well. It's like there's big trough, and everyone's lined up. It is typical and traditional, in human terms, to begin any sort of class with a discussion of the topic. For example, if the class is to be held upon "History," one shall begin the class, at least in high, respected institutions of learning, with a discussion of, What is history? Why is it important to study history? How can we know what we know about history? Depending upon the place, in history, of that class, it will follow these points in different directions. Thus, history changes, even though every class tries to pin it down like a butterfly that is still alive! We won't do that here tonight because we, frankly, are bored by such things! To discuss, What is the mind? Why should one understand the power of the mind?--this would bore you! We will not be discussing things in metaphorical terms this evening, either. We do not believe it is helpful, or even interesting, to say "The mine is like this, that or the other." Although we have an endless stream of them ready [laughter] if you should require them, or annoy us in any way whatsoever! [laughter] We don't want to d-r-a-g you through anything that would be dull. The mind is a fascinating issue, but it is not a factual topic. This bears repeating: the mind is not a factual topic. We will not discuss the number of thoughts, the number of neurons and the number of possible actions of the mind, no. There is something much more important to know about it, and it is contained in the sound of our voice, the sound of our voice. There's the key, there's the clue. There is the understanding of the power of the mind. We will talk, however, about some specific things. Tonight we will talk about the mind as it is viewed from other perspectives. We will briefly talk about the mind as it is viewed from its own perspective. We only want to place you and orient you by this, not to give you definition of the mind, for some final examination. No, we want to show you where you are on the map, because you will be making this journey yourself, and you need to know where you're starting from! Next week, next class, we will be discussing the functioning of the mind, how it operates, how one can find the power in the mind, and see that power, regardless of how one judges that power and its uses; see it with awe, with respect, and with astonishment. In the next session after that, in the third class, we will be discussing ways to corral, control, maintain and sustain the mind, in a way that will be pleasing to all of you. And in the final session we will have pot pourri. We will have much, much more opportunity to discuss with each person, individual questions and issues pertaining to this subject, and as well, we will be giving even more suggestions for following up, and keeping up, with good solid practice. For all understanding—and understanding is the most important word in the title of this class—all understanding includes a practice component. Because the human being is removed, one step only, only one step removed, but removed none the less, from complete and total Understanding (with a large "U"). God's Understanding. The Light. And so removed, must work to attain it. Cannot simply say, "I am now peace and light and love" and by that declaration alone, be in Understanding. There is a shroud, through which one must penetrate, and that implies, correctly, action. There is action to be done, but it is the action of being, and not the action of making or doing. And that distinction will become clear as we enter into the end points of this course. We will be not issuing grades or credits. And, we beg of you, request of you, plead of you, implore of you, encourage you, not to issue grades or credits yourself, to yourselves, or to one another. It is inevitable in human life, that in gatherings, especially those with the name of "course, class, sessions" that the concept of comparison of oneself against some unknown standard, of oneself against others, of oneself against one's dream of oneself, shall happen. But these comparisons, if they should arise, should be regarded as spiders crawling up the wall. Let them simply be, pay them no mind, and they will not bother you. If you turn away from a spider crawling up the wall and focus on something else, you know how safe and harmless you are, and how safe and harmless the spider is. You can even put it out of your mind and let it go about its business. But when you focus upon it, the mind, in all its glory, begins to conjure up dramatic images of this spider crawling toward oneself with malicious intent in the mind, and one begins to feel that this spider has been born into earth with the sole purpose of poisoning oneself, and it is coming now, or later tonight in sleep! [laughter] This can happen with that idea of grading and credit. So when that spider appears, and it will for most people, because these things are like weeds, of course they grow, simply turn away. Just, turn away. And then you'll be with us, in our tone. And you'll be with us in our spirit. And you'll be with us in many ways. In the end tonight, we will ask: Who has discovered the secret of the tone. Who has discovered the meaning in the voice level? Who has found the understanding of the power of the mind, not in understanding the words, but in understanding which surpasses that surface level. Well, it is absolutely delightful to be beginning this discussion tonight. It is with awe, that we come to you, because you are all possessed of a mind, and it is with humility, and respect, that we honor your mind, and we speak to you and your mind. The human being has many different elements to its existence. A human being, as you look around the room, has a wonderful, beautiful, delightful and perfect form. This form is often considered to be, the whole human. This physical form is often considered to be, valuable and precious, because that is the whole human to some people. And of course they understand that people are valuable. And if this is all a person is to them, then this is valuable. To us, this is mud and sticks. Mud and sticks. Just the same thing as the home, as the tree, as the ground. What's real, alive and important about a human being is not what is visible to the physical eyes, but all that more that is so golden about you. This [pointing to the body] is therefore not the container of all your self. In our perspective, this is merely a vehicle, through which, not from within which, but through which, you perceive, act, create and are acted upon, in human life. Through which, like it's a tube, through which you are looking. But that means that you are not in the tube, and you are not the tube. What then is looking? Well there's more of you than just this periscope. There's a whole emotional self. The emotional self--you all know this--because sometimes you feel feelings and sometimes you feel nothing; both of these are an indicator that there's an emotional self, because when you feel nothing, you feel the loss of feeling. If there were no emotional self, you would feel nothing and feel natural. But you know how hard it is to feel nothing; it's sometimes the hardest of all. The emotional self is a whole existence. You're all living in it now. It's a whole existence with its own perspective. Just as your physical eyes look around the chamber and see other physical bodies, your emotional self has emotional perception mechanisms, in which it can feel the feelings of others, in which it can create feelings in others, in which it can give spice to words and actions, seasoning them so that they are palatable or impalatable as one wishes. Oh, the emotional self is a busy cook! It has a busy, busy life. It's always active. It never sleeps. Never sleeps. The emotional self is always active. The mental self, the mental body, which is the subject of the courses: the mind, has, likewise, its existence. It has likewise its existence. Now, we will discuss in a moment the perspectives of these other forms and bodies upon the mind, in order to orient you. But for a moment, let us examine the mind's sense of existence. When you think, there are physical responses within the human physical mud and stick body. People can put electrodes upon you, and they can determine that there's something going on there. Mistakenly, they believe that these are the sources of thoughts. They are actually, responses to them. The physical body consists of a central nervous system along with everything else. The central nervous system is not the mind. It is not what we will be discussing on this evening. The central nervous system is a part of the physical body. You will open up, in medical school, the brain and central nervous system of others, and never find a single thought therein. Because thoughts are actually not generated, created or even in existence, in physical terms. Yet they are real, because there is something beyond physical. Animals have minds, but their minds are quite different and much more, in general, simple than your own. Therefore, were animals here, they would hear the tone in our voice as a massaging thing and they would sleep perhaps, or whimper to be let out. But, they would not be listening to the content of our voice, generally, and hearing and processing it. Why not? They have a physical brain and central nervous system just like the human. Is it because theirs is smaller? That is silly. That is silly. Size of brain--that is stupid thing to focus upon. Is it because their brain is less developed? No, their brain is brain. Are certain leaves less developed than other leaves? They are different, but they are the same. No, it is because they do not have the same mental body that the human being has, which is one of those sets of eyes, peering through this periscope [the physical body]. So, when you are perceiving information and facts and thoughts and ideas, you are perceiving them through the periscope of the physical, with the eyes and ears of the mental. So the mental body is a body that lives on its own. It sleeps. It has sleeping patterns. It sleeps perhaps four to six hours in every day, not all at once; the mental body takes short naps. This is why you will find yourself "spaced." You will be driving down the road and you'll be five miles farther than you remember. But you're safe! Because you have more to you in life than spiritual, mental, physical and emotional self. You have angels, fortunately, taking good care when needed. So there is a mental body in existence. Now, there is also other bodies as well. Key among them are two: spiritual body and social body. The spiritual body, which is the focus of many people on earth at all times, their dream, their goal, their endeavor--to be always in their spiritual body. People are always in their spiritual body, because their spiritual body is alive and part of them! Even those who do evil deeds, as judged by people, are spiritual, a part of them. They have a spiritual body, everybody does. A baby born without a brain...a baby born without a brain... has a spiritual body. So the spiritual is not lodged in the brain. It's not one of those thoughts and ideas that some would like to think it is, so that they may dismiss it, because they are in such pain at desiring it. The spiritual is a direct link to the Source. It is a hole in that separation between true, pure Understanding and your current existence. There's a hole in there. Your spiritual body fits in that hole. It is like, paper cups with string. You're not highly, technologically advanced at communion with the Almighty. But you have paper cups with string. So there is a spiritual body, and spiritual longing is present--or can be present, depending upon the choices that are made to allow it to be felt--is present for every person on earth. Those who dismiss spirituality feel just as much as those who crave and long and cling to it. There are no levels of spiritual achievement, and there are no levels of spiritual longing. It is simply there, in everyone: a spiritual body, a beautiful thing to see. Also, the social body must be acknowledged. The social body--which has ancient names, but we apply a modern name to make it clear what it is--the social body is your paper cup-and-string connection to every other human being. Every other human being who's ever lived--hello [spoken to the cat who has just come to the door]--who's ever lived, who lives now, and who ever will live, has that connection to you all, and lives in you and you in them. Thus, it can be seen to be like a web, or like a huge pot in which you are all dissolved. And you are all together. The social body, therefore, is very much like--chance of entry twenty-four per cent! [referring to the cat hesitating in the door]--the social body, therefore, is very much like--this is the multi-colored one [Eon is referring to which of the two cats has just come into the house]--good choice! [directed toward the cat]. The social body is very much, therefore, like the experience of death, and we will say exactly why. Death, or other words--we'll use the French word, mort , mort , it's softer than "death"! Mort , or death, is an experience of the self, the individual self, being shattered and broken apart, and the self dissolving into the vastness. Now the social body you all have, is just like that. It's a little part of yourself dissolved into everybody else, and it's everybody else inside you. People often think about death as that dissolving, but they think only of themselves dissolving in the Almighty. Think of it also, as the Almighty dissolving into oneself. Don't think of it as destruction of the individuality, but rather think of it as the assumption of the totality. This balance will help you to welcome death when its time comes, and welcoming it is very important thing, because there's not much you can do, once it's happening, to stop it! You might as well enjoy it. And it can be enjoyed. But the social body is a world in which you can begin to feel the experience of mort , of death, now . Your individuality destroyed in the totality of humanity. But also, all humanity embedded inside you. This is an important thing to meditate upon and contemplate. We have described five bodies: physical body, emotional body, mental body, spiritual body, and social body, and described them quite well! There are many other bodies that are part of you all now. If you think of yourself as here on earth, and God up above in the heavens, then all your bodies are standing upon each other's shoulders, reaching far up into the sky. And we've only met the first five. But how far up do they all go? Long way. They all have thoughts on the subject of the mind. But the ones you can feel, the bodies you can experience with certainty and with regularity are these five. And so we will discuss tonight, the perspectives of these five upon the mind. It's very helpful to look at something from the perspective of something else. If you think of an idea, such as "distance," we may declare three points in the idea of "distance:" near, middle distance and far away. These are familiar ideas to everybody. Yet, in the near, there is incredible, tremendous, vast distance. If you go ever nearer and ever nearer, you can know exactly what we mean, entering into the cell, into the molecule, into the atom, and into the energies that make up what is called an atom. There is tremendous distance within "near." There is absolutely no distance between here and "far." Something that is far away but is thought of, is brought immediately into the self, especially some one who is dear to one--do not allow the beast to distract you [referring again to the cat], it is a beautiful beast to be sure. It wants to simply relax. In the "far," therefore, there is no distance. It's almost as though you just put your arm around "far" and bring it right here, when you think of something far away. Even the planet Pluto. You just think of it, and it's right here in your thoughts. There is no distance in reality. So, in "far" there is near, and in "near" there is far. Can it be said, then, that "far" is farther than "near"? Can it be said that the middle, is between the two? Can anything like this be said? Relativity, therefore, itself, should be cast into doubt. All ideas of comparison, even the idea of holding that one shall make no comparison, should be dismissed and dissolved. In discussing the essence of your self--any of those beautiful essences that make up your self--when discussing these essences, one cannot compare anything to anything. With that in mind, let's begin. How does the physical perceive the mind? Well, the physical perceives the mind as its master. The physical body has no consciousness itself. It does not have thought-forms as we want to use that word here, in this class, within its cells. Although you feel, often, within your body, and often feel that you are your body, your body is an inanimate object. It is moved, motivated, it initiates all its physical actions and internal and external functions, by commands of its brain, which again are responses to mental processes. Thus, this whole body is really like a limp rag, a passive thing, and the mind is its master. And by master we mean not domineering, controlling thing, no. We only mean that the mind is its sponsor in animation, its source in liveliness. The mind is the plug, into which the body is plugged, and the current of thought form motivating, intention activating, flows through. So to the physical, the mind is something to honor. And because the human being so frequently tell themselves and tell each other, emphatically, "this is what you are"--for example, when falling ill saying, "I have fallen ill, I have a tumor in my lung, I have heart problem, I this, I that," when it is actually an inanimate limp rag that is frayed in different places--by this identification, the human being frequently considers the mind to be its overbearing, overlord master. Because if the human feels, this is what they are, and the mind is that plug into which they are plugged, then they think that the mind is the same thing as God. Unconscious thought held by many. The mind as God. And it leads many to believe that the mind will save themselves and humanity. It leads many to believe that the mind is a precious, precious thing which one can never completely comprehend, but which has something in store for us for our own good. This motivates science, politics, exploration, both personal and interpersonal exploration, space exploration, ocean exploration, historic exploration; this motivates searching. To satisfy the need to know one's mind, because one want to know God. One wants to achieve the big Understanding. So one seeks the small understanding. This is the physical perception of the mind. And that is how the physical perception alone can lead one astray. The emotion perceives the mind as a tiger will perceive a lion. Both are of a similar species, but both are different, wary, territorial, aggressive, expressive, messy. They can be peaceable, and they can fight to the death. And who would win such a fight can be individually determined case by case. So, tigers and lions--this is emotions and the mind, the mental body. The emotional body is pure power. That's all it should be thought to be--pure power. Through that spiritual chink in the wall between you and God, emotional energy comes pouring. It's God's love, coming into you, and the human being is filled up to the very brim with it, running over and over, and pouring, filled, chock-filled. If we turn the lens--"click!"--to view you simply as emotional beings, you all look like bubbling springs. Gushing rivers. Niagara Falls. That's what you look like. And it's not coming from inside you, it's coming through you. Through your emotional body, and pouring out through your physical body. For the physical not only is the periscope through which you see, experience and perceive with all your other bodies, but it is also the means through which you speak, express and ACT on behalf of all your other bodies. So when emotional power comes pouring through and it needs to get out, it gets out physically, in word, in deed, in tear, in tremor, in angry pounding, in utter anguish, in deep, deep, deep, deep sadness and despair. Physically, emotional power is expressed, and the waterfalls keep running. Now, when you're not physically expressing emotion, the waterfalls keep running anyway. It's just that you're not completely feeling all that pouring all the time. If you were to do that, feel it all the time, you could make a mess of yourself. You could sit around and just feel it forever. You'd be very healthy, emotionally! But you have a limited span of years here. So everything must be in balance. The prime idea in this life is to keep the eyes ON THE GOAL. EYES ON THE GOAL. And all the bodies must be aligned. They must all serve achievement of that goal. The emotional body, therefore, is here to help you get there. It puts the gas in the tank that MOVES this vehicle through life. It is not, in and of itself, the purpose to almost anyone's life; but living with a full awareness of one's emotions, even if they are not constantly flowing and expressing IS helpful, IS important. The emotional body, thus, has all this power. Yet the mental body has a considerable and equal quantity of power. And the power of the mental body is the power to TAKE and MAKE. That is the power of the mental body. It absorbs information and it puts out information. For any action is a form of information. It's the physical body informing the mind of a certain thing. For example, we will now inform you of a certain thing: [Eon claps his hands loudly]. Mental power expressed physically made a statement. That's power. It's not emotional power, although when the lion and the tiger are nuzzling one another in happy play, emotional power rides piggyback ON that mental power and SPICES it, as we mentioned. Seasons it, and does delightful things with it. Makes it palatable, or impalatable, depending upon your will. So, when they are friendly animals together, they are partners. And when they are not friendly animals together, the fur will fly, and often with dangerous and dastardly results. Conflict in someone, between emotions and mental power, can cause insanity. Conflict between emotions and mental power can cause complete apathy, and suicide feelings. It's a very serious combination. But that degree of conflict is rare. Everyone, however, knows a little of that conflict. The mind, the mental body--how does it view itself? It views itself as--the only thing that exists. The mind says--AND IT IS NOT WRONG!--but the mind says, "Everything else is an illusion, a shadow, a vision, a production, of myself. This world around--this is merely an illusion, created by me for my own pleasure and enjoyment." Now that is where the mind goes astray. The first part was correct. This world IS an illusion. This physical world is meaningless. It is merely your playground, and the balls are being kicked around, not by these physical bodies. Really, YOU are all the balls being kicked around! [laughter] By your higher selves! [Dave asks "Can we switch?"] Yes. [Dave turns the tape over.] So, the mental body is not wrong when it views itself as the only thing that is in existence, because the very idea of existence is a mental concept--you see? When the physical eyes view the physical body, it says "Ah, this is the person." When the mental perception powers view the mind, it says "Ah, this is the person." So the mind has a tremendous conceit and narcissism. And that is not a judgment, for conceit and narcissism have their place! But that is something to understand about the mind--that it has that little song playing all the time. The mind believes it is all there is, so it is NOT a cancer. The mind is not seeking to absorb and destroy other things, other parts of you. But rather, it is simply that sense that it is all it is, that gives it more impetus to spread where it does not belong. It's not a bad thing. The mind is not a bad thing. But it sometimes acts like a very errant child. It sometimes acts. Because it has this power, it acts uncorralled in ways which create messes and problems, not for the mind, but for the other bodies. The mind is always pleased with itself. Always. And it should be. It does very well what it does, every mind, every mind, every single mind does well what it does. How does the spiritual body view the mind? The spiritual body has a perhaps surprising view of the mind. Imagine a sun, and from the sun many rays, each ray descending outward into a point, millions and billions of miles from the source, that sun. And there are of course an infinite number of rays on the sun, all extending outward, so that the sun is like a big, orange porcupine in the sky. Well the spiritual body views the mind as the tip of one of those spines, and it views the sun as God, and the rays as the light, and the essence, and the self-hood of God, extending out into your lives. That's how it views the mind. It sees itself as the conduit, but it sees your mind as the ear that is attached to that paper cup with string. Thus, the spiritual body has absolute dependence on the mind, has tremendous respect and appreciation for the mind and loves the mind. The spiritual body loves the mind. So those who wish to be spiritual must love their mind as well, because to be spiritual is simply walk fully into your walking spiritual mind. And that is to be absolutely in love with all parts of yourself, respecting that the mind is an honored part of you. So, on the one hand you are beginning to understand, the mind can be a problem. It can create difficult, or rather, it can feel to the other bodies as though there is difficulty, which can be traced back to the mind's functions. But on the other hand, we hope you are understanding now: the mind is a treasure chest. An absolute gold mine. Some might call it a gold mine field! This combines both ideas of the mind. The social body has a perspective on the mind which is larger. Some philosophers and psychologists refer to collective unconsciousness, collective consciousness, the song of the spirit in all the people. All these ideas are very much like how the social body views the mind. They are like a mirror image of it, a reflection. Of course, a reflection is not the thing itself, but it is almost very much the thing itself. You can see pretty much clearly what something is in its reflection. Well, when you hear these ideas, you are seeing a reflection of how the social body views the mind. When we say "mind" and "mental body," they should be used interchangeably. We don't want to get bogged down in tearing something apart that cannot be even found. So, orientation to where we are is about as close as one can get to grabbing the mind. This must be felt by everyone to understand the power of the mind. But you will never be able to put your mind out there like you could put a brain in the middle of the floor and say "Now I am going to understand this. I'm going to grapple with it until I am victor." That will never, ever bring satisfaction or happiness to anyone. But, without that attachment to that goal, one can develop real, deep understanding of the mind. In fact, one can approach the big Understanding with capital "U" regarding the mind. One can receive God's Understanding. And that is essentially our introduction to this series of talks. We have oriented you, or perhaps disoriented you, and that is probably the most helpful thing anyone could do. Becoming confused is a golden opportunity, because it means that the mind, which works so well, has suddenly got its jaws around something way too big, or way too odd or strange, or not even there. But in some way or another is grappling and processing furiously, something quite new. So new, it's beyond description. That is when the mind is so preoccupied that one can really examine it quite well and quite easily, without all the involvement of that mind's tentacles in the examining process, skewing it and messing it up. Thus, opportunities to be stunned are golden, golden. Many spiritual teachers will try, and succeed, at stunning the mind. Because very few things are more helpful in advancing your spiritual progress in this life, than absolute paralysis of the mental body! The spiritual body breathes a sigh of relief when that ear on the phone stops talking. So, disorientation is very helpful. The more confused one gets, the better it is for one's self. Now, trying to get out of confusion is basically assisting the mind to regain control. So it shouldn't be achieved too quickly. Confusion will fade the way like a limb that is asleep will become alive again. But confusion should not be hurried off. It should be enjoyed and savored, every moment of it. There's a lot of bliss to be found in confusion--a lot of bliss indeed! Next week when we are here, you'll be able to have keepsake memorabilia of this talk, next week's talk. There will be limited edition drawings to help understand the functioning of the mind itself. Because knowing where you are, or really, being disoriented--knowing where you're not---then you can begin to, not take apart, but really get inside and become--BECOME--the mind. And thus, by being, know it. And, when knowing it, you will then be able to describe it to yourself and be fascinated and pleased and stand in awe of it, all very good things to do. Then, in the following week, we will help you to train your mind, because understanding power leads us to believe that one must do something with it. Not just because everyone knows they ought to get their mind under control, but because understanding breeds obligation. When something is understood, one has an obligation to it, because one is in it and it is in oneself. So one must always live in such a way as to be TRUE to that self and that obligation. And we will thus help you to train, manage, control, corral, caress, massage and absolutely adore you mind and your mental body. Respecting it. Really loving it.
